Let’s Build San Mateo’s
Future — Together.
I am a lifelong San Mateo resident, current PTA President at Fiesta Gardens International School and board member of the Beresford-Hillsdale Neighborhood Association, former award-winning newspaper reporter and nonprofit director. My husband and I are raising our two daughters in the Hillsdale neighborhood, where we see every day how city decisions affect families, seniors, small businesses and future generations.
I've spent my career bringing people together, asking tough questions, and advocating for transparency and accountability. Now, I want to put that experience to work on the San Mateo City Council.
Economic Accountability
San Mateo faces significant projected budget shortfalls. Future changes in state funding and tax allocations and deficit spending at the City level are creating very real fiscal challenges. If we do not act with urgency, the city could face workforce reductions, service cuts, or pressure for future taxes.
As a Councilmember, I’ll push for honest budgeting, clear public information, and practical solutions that protect the services residents rely on. San Mateo’s financial future should be handled with transparency, discipline, and a focus on preserving our quality of life.

Public Safety
San Mateo has outstanding police and fire protection. Residents know that when they call for help, our first responders are ready. This is core to our quality of life.
I am committed to making public safety a top priority. That means supporting well staffed, well funded police and fire departments, advocating for the first responders serving our community, and making sure San Mateo remains a safe place to live, work, and raise a family.
Infrastructure and Transportation
Streets, parks, sidewalks, sewers and other infrastructure require steady attention and responsible investment. The city has identified street and sidewalk maintenance as a top priority, but looming budget challenges pose a threat. I will work to ensure we address problems before they become more expensive, protect local transportation options, and make sure District 5 receives the attention it deserves.
Housing and Growth
San Mateo sits in the heart of the Bay Area economy, with major job centers, transit access, and growing pressure for housing by the State. While this brings opportunity, it also raises real concerns about traffic, neighborhood character, and whether growth is being managed responsibly.
I believe San Mateo must take a balanced approach which prioritizes community input and reduces pressure on established neighborhoods. Growth must be guided by our community values, realistic infrastructure planning, and a clear commitment to protecting the character and quality of life we enjoy.
Streamlining our City Services
San Mateo deserves a City Hall that works collaboratively with residents. Whether raising a neighborhood concern, applying for a permit, opening a small business, or getting questions answered, the process should be timely, transparent, and easy to navigate.
As a Councilmember, I will always work to improve communication, collaboration, reduce unnecessary delays, and make city services more responsive to our residents.
Leadership that Listens
Open dialogue, honest communication, proactive problem-solving and the willingness to listen are the foundation of my leadership approach.
This campaign is about real leadership around the real quality of life issues San Mateo residents face every day. As a Councilmember I will make decisions with the community and the residents of District 5, not for it. Together, we will create a stronger San Mateo for generations to come.
